Barclay Shultz, originally from Michigan, earned his baccalaureate in physics at Grinnell College in Grinnell, Iowa. His fondest memories are of rock climbing, playing soccer and hockey. From 1974-1978, he worked with the Peace Corps in Africa, teaching physics and math.

Dr. Shultz earned his medical degree at the University of Michigan Medical School in Ann Arbor, Michigan in 1982. His residency was at the University of Colorado, Southern Colorado Family Medicine in Pueblo, Colorado.

Dr. Shultz was a medical volunteer in 1983, 1985, and from 1988-1990 in Africa for which he won a Humanitarian Award in 2000.

Dr. Shultz moved to the Sauk Prairie area and joined Prairie Clinic in 1991. He was "attracted to the rural farming area close to Madison and the University". Dr. Shultz really enjoys the farmers and small town people. "Prairie Clinic had a friendly, caring staff and was not owned by a large organization."

Continuing his education, Dr. Shultz earned a masters in anatomy, with an emphasis on clinical anatomy, at the University of Wisconsin in 1997.

Dr. Shultz likes fly fishing, biking, camping, woodworking and swimming in his free time.
