Thomas Varley attended the Iowa State University in Ames, Iowa, where he earned his bachelorate. He then earned his doctorate at the University of Iowa in Iowa City, Iowa in 1990.

Dr. Varley performed his OB/GYN residency with the University of Nebraska in Omaha, Nebraska and his Family Practice residency with Mercy/St. Luke's Hospital in Davenport, Iowa.

In 1994, Dr. Varley moved to the Sauk Prairie area and joined Prairie Clinic.
