John McAuliffe, M.D./ Family Medicine

John McAuliffe, from Blair, Wisonsin, earned his undergraduate degree at the University of Wisconsin Madison, in Madison, Wisconsin. He continued on to earn his doctorate at the UW's Medical School in 1973.


Philosophy - "It is a privilege to care for other human beings."


Dr. McAuliffe finished his residency while in the army at Martin Army Hospital in Fort Benning, Georgia. Then he became the assistant director of the Family Practice Residency in Fort Belvoir, Virginia. While in the military, Dr. McAuliffe developed a project called Project Life, which is a wellness course lasting approximately 8 weeks. Project Life won a Blue Cross for Investments Into Tomorrow award for being one of the most progressive programs in the country at that time.


Dr. McAuliffe moved to the Sauk Prairie area and joined Prairie Clinic in 1978. Dr. McAuliffe explains that he stayed "largely because of the excellent colleagues and medical environment, as well as the patients".


Dr. McAuliffe is the Past Medical Director of the Sauk Prairie Memorial Hospital, which is one of the top 100 hospitals in the nation for the past 3 out of 4 years now. He has also served as Chief of Staff several times. Dr. McAuliffe lectures throughout the state and country on the importance of wellness and physical fitness. He enjoys running, reading and music in his spare time.
